Sprinkle the chopped ham in the bottom of a 9.5inch/24cm round pie dish and spread evenly.
Sprinkle over the chopped spring onions and grated cheese.
In a large jug or bowl, whisk together the eggs, cream, salt & cayenne.
Pour the egg mixture over the ham. Place in the oven and cook for 40-45 minutes.
It is ready when it is golden brown all over and cooked through. You can stick a knife in the middle to check it is set all the way through.
Remove from the oven and set aside to cool for 5 minutes. it will deflate as it cools.
It can be served hot, warm, room temperature or cold. It will be easier to slice if it has cooled and then been refridgerated.
Notes
It can be easier to put the pie dish on a baking tray and then placing it in the oven. It is easier to get it in and out of the oven that way.
If you don't have cheddar cheese, you can use any gated cheese you have on hand or prefer.
The volume of a 9.5 inch pie dish is around 6 cups. So any oven proof baking dish that can fit 6 cups will work.
Make sure you let the frittata cool before cutting and removing from the dish. This will make it so much easier to take out.
This frittata keeps well in the fridge. We like to cut it into slices and store in airtight containers. It can be frozen, but it may be a bit watery once defrosted, so we prefer not to freeze it.
