We love to eat breakfast out on the weekend and our main go to option is always Eggs Benedict (sans English muffin of course!). Itβs not something we have attempted to replicate at home until now. Once you learn this quick and easy method of how to make hollandaise, you will be having it on your eggs at home as well as when you go out for breakfast.
How to Make Hollandaise
After making our own hollandaise for the first time, I wish we had tried this sooner. It is so easy using this method and we will now be saving $$$ as we will be eating breakfast out less often.
Hollandaise is great on poached eggs, but if you donβt have the time or patience to make your own poached eggs, it would also be delicious on fried eggs too.
Equipment
- Stick blender β ours is similar to this one
- Small heat-proof jug
- Larger narrow jug or blender cup
Ingredients
- 125g Butter
- 1 tbsp Lemon juice
- 1 Egg yolk
- Pinch of salt
- Cayenne or black pepper (optional)
Serving Suggestions
Hollandaise sauce and eggs are a match made in heaven. Our favourite way to serve this sauce is with poached eggs.
Serving hollandaise sauce over steamed asparagus is a classic combination. This makes a perfect keto friendly side dish.
It also pairs really well with steak, grilled fish or chicken and is a perfect way to add fat and flavour to any lean protein.
Your hollandaise can also be flavoured with fresh herbs, roasted garlic or even your favourite spices.
Steps
- Melt the butter in the small jug in the microwave
- In the large narrow jug add the egg yolk, lemon juice and salt
- Place the stick blender in the large jug and turn on high to combine the egg yolk and juice
- Leave the blender on high and slowly drizzle in the melted butter
- Once all the butter is added and combined you should be left with a creamy hollandaise!
- Season with cayenne or black pepper if desired
- Best served immediately and makes approximately 4 servings
